We missed you in 2020, but 2021 was quite busy & exciting in Pittsburgh! We had a great time seeing so many familiar faces as well as meeting some new friends and welcoming new partnerships this year.

What is new & exciting about the 2021-2022 school year?

Academia introduced a new bright and beautiful yellow color into our already robust color choices. We named it “Sunshine Yellow”.

We also introduced a new standard laminate called Sky Rise -a fresh textured look, but smooth to the touch - a neutral white with some grey linear patterning. It’s a nice clean bright look.

Our theme this year at Edspaces was “Let’s Make You Shine!” At the 2021 show, we saw fresh color pallets  - bright tangerine oranges, fresh lime-greens, bright white with aquas, and of course our new Sunshine Yellow. Fun, modern, and geometric fabric patterns and simple bright laminates are also on trend for this year.  A happy, fresh, clean and uncluttered minimalistic approach in the classrooms are the visual appeals that seem to be attracting both teachers and students.

Shapes, shapes and more shapes of soft seating options in our Mod® line are an exciting development - we are adding new shapes year-round. We had a lot of compliments on the comfort and quality of our Mod® line. Our plywood interior frames, burlap webbing, Dacron foam and beautiful French seams that are hand sewn on industrial machines by our upholstery team are made custom in New Jersey. They truly are amazing quality that will stand the test of time.

Academia's Squircle® stool was introduced in 2019, and we have now added an adjustable height Squircle® option that allows a custom range of height for users.

Academia is excited to introduce more options and variety for K-12 school furniture in the coming year. We enjoyed connecting and meeting each one of you, and we are looking forward to seeing what fun 2022 brings in Portland next year!
